City on Corio Bay

Explore Waterfront Geelong

ONLY an hour's drive from Melbourne, Geelong is Victoria's second largest city and the gateway to the Great Ocean Road.

Overlooking Corio Bay, Geelong was once a major wool shipping port, and while the wool heydays are gone, their legacy remains in attractions such as the National Wool Museum.

The city's new drawcard, Waterfront Geelong, features many cafes and restaurants, fully restored art deco seawater baths, a yacht club and a scenic bayside promenade dotted with brightly-painted bollards, depicting many of Geelong's historical characters.

Walking and cycling paths hug the curve of the bay and provide easy access to the many attractions along the foreshore. More than 100 brightly-painted bollards are dotted around the bay depicting some of Geelong's local historic characters.

The Geelong Otway region is rich and diverse. By exploring the region's culture, history, local food, wines and natural attractions you will experience a unique and exciting destination.

Revival for grand relic

Eastern Beach, Geelong

AROUND Geelong's Corio Bay is a wonderful mix of old wharves, convict-built and modern piers, woolstores, colorful boats and a fully-restored 1930s seabathing complex.

Eastern Beach is a grand relic of early 20th century social and recreational customs - a fully-restored 1930s seabathing complex.

It includes an enclosed seabath, children's pool, changerooms, cafe and restaurant.
